First Drive: Chevrolet Volt, pre-production model

CanadianDriver had a rare opportunity to drive a prototype of the highly-anticipated Chevrolet Volt electric car this week. The production version is scheduled to go on sale in Canada in mid 2011, reports Editor-in-chief, Greg Wilson.

2010 Toyota Prius Plug-in hybrid makes NA debut

The 2010 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicle (PHV) made its North American debut today at the Los Angeles Auto Show. Built specifically to support a global demonstration program that begins this month, the Prius PHV is based on the third-generation Prius.

Honda reveals ‘Personal-Neo Urban Transport’ concept

Honda’s Personal-Neo Urban Transport (P-NUT) concept car made its debut today at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show. The P-NUT is designed to demonstrate a futuristic concept for an ultra-compact and sophisticated city coupe.

Chevrolet Volt to launch in California late next year

Chevrolet announced today at the Los Angeles International Auto Show that the Volt electric vehicle with extended-range capability will be available late next year in California – the nation’s largest new-car market – with other lead markets to be named later.

Preview: Nissan LEAF electric car

Nissan’s new LEAF electric car will go on sale in limited numbers in 2010, but it remains to be seen whether its 160-km range and 220-volt charging requirement will prove practical for Canadian commuters, particularly during harsh winters.
